Christmas is around the corner and I’m assuming you are here because you are considering buying an artificial tree from King of Christmas.
Let me begin by saying, for most my adult life I’ve had a real Christmas tree and for the past few years we loved buying hot cocoa and going out to the tree farm to pick and cut our Christmas tree. They were always beautiful trees but, every year the price seemed to increase. The watering and needle clean up didn’t really bother me as much as the price of the tree that would only be thrown out weeks later. So I decided to go fake this year and see how it works.
If you are on Instagram you have probably seen these beautifully flocked trees from King of Christmas. I’ve been eyeing them for a while and decided to buy one. But it wasn’t before doing some research and finding out what makes these trees beautiful and looking both online and in-person to find a comparable tree for less money. Let’s just say after much looking, I didn’t find any tree that beat the tip count and LED light count of the King of Christmas tree. So, I am answering some questions I had about King of Christmas and hope that you find it helpful. If you decide to try a King of Christmas tree just click on any link for a $25 discount.

What Makes King of Christmas Trees so Great?
There are 3 main distinctions that I found makes a King of Christmas tree superior to most other artificial trees. Tip count, material and LED light count.
Tip Count
I did not know this but tip count is what contributes to the fullness of the artificial tree. The King Flock has 2,298 tips. Since I’m frugal I tried to find trees with similar tip counts for less money. The closest I found was one with 1,900 tips. I know that’s pretty close but for me it wasn’t close enough. I loved the way these trees looked on Instagram and if I’m going to be Team Fake Tree I want to fully love my tree and not look at it sideways or with squinted eyes convincing myself that it’s okay. When it comes to BIG purchases my rule is that I have to love it not just like it.
Material
The King Flock is made of blend of realistic and classic needle tips. This is done with a blend of PE and PVC. Realistic trees have a high density of PE that feels and looks like a real evergreen. Classic trees use PVC which is cut into fine strands to resemble an evergreen needles. The King Flock is made with a percentage blend of 35% PE – 65% PVC.
LED Light Count
The 8′ King Flock has 900 UL warm white LED lights
How Does a King of Christmas Tree Arrive?
Our trees arrived via FedEx in a very compact box. The box had handles which made it easy to carry inside. The box is stronger than most shipping boxes and came without any damage to the outside.
How Do You Put a King of Christmas Tree Together?
The 8′ King has 3 sections and a tree stand. Each section is label A, B, C with A being placed into the tree stand first, followed by B and then C. No extra help is required to assemble the tree and is quite easy to do by yourself.
Is the Flocking Messy?
Many influencers and the King of Christmas website will say that the flocking is mess-free. I will partially agree. It isn’t messy in the sense that it stays up in the air and is hard to clean. It is heavy enough the it just falls to the floor for easy clean-up. Not much (if any) falls after it is set up but while setting up and fluffing your tree…you will have it all over your sweater and socks.
Should I Buy the LED or Unlit Tree?
There’s a huge price difference in the LED vs unlit trees and they both have pros and cons depending on your preference. We purchased the unlit King Flock because the lit one was sold out. But, we ended up saving a couple hundred dollars and purchased an 84′ string of 1000 LED twinkle lights with 8 modes on Amazon for about 30 dollars. So, for a little extra work we got a nice warm white light twinkle that I love while sitting in the living room drinking hot cocoa while watching Hallmark Christmas movies. The biggest complaint I found after reading so many people’s reviews of the Lit King Flock was that modes were limited. It really comes down to personal preference in this area.
Customer Service at King of Christmas
King of Christmas customer service superseded my expectations. I did not mention that I was doing a product review (because I really wasn’t sure I’d do a review but rest assured there was no special treatment in exchange for a positive review) and guess what? They gave me first class attention.
The first tree I ordered was their new Full Queen flock. I love the three prong tips of the Queen and thought I’d give it a try although initially I was looking at the King. The queen is just as beautiful but I love full trees and something didn’t feel right with the tree they sent. I emailed customer service and they responded almost immediately and requested some more information and photos. Turns out that I was sent a Slim Queen Flock and they gave me a few options to rectify their error and apologized. I opted for a partial refund which was in my account within days. Now I have a Queen in my dinning room and a King in my living room. We reserved the Queen for all the kids handmade ornaments and left the King for mama to decorate 🙂
Conclusion
These trees are absolutely beautiful and look great with or without ornaments. With over 2000 tips the King Flock is full and hides the pole very well. The flocking is considered heavy but I think it’s just enough to look wintery without concealing the entire tree. I hope this has helped you make a decision and if you buy one – send me a picture of your decorated tree. You can also tag me on Instagram.
Happy Holidays!
