It’s official… .
We are officially in the “no” phase. Lately, it seems like no is Teigan’s favorite word. Even when she means yes, she says no.
Are you eating the flour? – No.
Do you want a bath? – No.
Do you want to eat? – No.
Are you tired? – No.
All these at one point were actually yes. When I fail to respond the way she wants she gets upset and cue the Say What You Mean theme song as I push through her tantrum and put myself on a mommy time out afterwards.
Mamas, this is uncharted territory for me. When I think I mastered the cues, she changes it up. My other 2 were “why” babies and I loved it. Maybe because I am a “why” baby alumni which meant handling the why phase came natural to me. They would ask why and I would say, let’s investigate. I always made an activity of it that was fun and engaging. With “no” I’m not sure what to do. It’s like a true and false quiz that I have a 50/50 chance of choosing the correct response and yet I choose the wrong response 100% of the time.
Any suggestions in navigating this no phase so she’s not frustrated with me and I’m not losing my mind?
