What is an Air Fryer?
If you have an air fryer scroll down to the next section paragragh. But, if you are among those who haven’t jumped on the wagon and gotten yourself an air fryer – you should. Those of you who have an air fryer and don’t use it – you are sitting on a gift that should be used. It’s a magical piece of equipment much like a convection oven that sits on your kitchen countertop. It can practically cook anything you can cook in an oven in less time. An air fryer will give you results of a deep fryer with little to no oil. If you are wondering, how much oil? It’s about a teaspoon.
How does an Air Fryer work? You may think that an air fryer – fries food but…it doesn’t. Instead, the food goes into a basket and the machine cooks the food by blowing hot air around it. The heating element and the fan are both on top constantly blowing air around the food. Unlike an oven the food isn’t blocked by a pan. The forced air cooks and browns the food.
Are Air Fryers just for small portions? No, air fryers come in different sizes. The most popular one is smaller and usually serves for 2. But – if you have a family of more than two there’s bigger ones too. The Pro XL Air Fryer is perfect for a family of 4-5 and it’s the one I have and LOVE. It’s 6 quarts and has many functions; air fryer, slow cooker and rice cooker (plus more) all-in-ONE. I believe there are larger ones too.
What Makes these Air Fryer Chicken Thighs Great?
Chicken thighs tend to be fattier than chicken breast which makes them more flavorful. They are also healthy because they are high in protein and low in calories which is a plus. Since we’re using an air fryer we don’t use a lot of fatty oil. You can also remove skin for an even healthier option. Lastly, I’m not sure why but boneless chicken thighs just cook better.
Ingredients
