My oldest introduced me to slime when she was about 5 years old and I was surprised how easy it was to make. The first recipe we tried included Borax that I picked up at Walmart in the laundry detergent aisle. Over the years we have gone down the rabbit hole of slime variations and have failed miserably on most of them. The shaving cream slime was a disaster along with the shampoo version. But this 3 ingredient slime recipe is perfect because it isn’t messy and it is soft and easy-to-squeeze.

Is This Slime Safe?
Borax is a popular ingredient for making slime, but there is question about using Borax to make slime. Borax is a chemical cleaner that may be potentially bad for your health after prolonged exposure. The small amount of Borax required to make slime may be harmless but if you don’t want to chance it then try you should really try this recipe. Chances are you probably have 2-3 ingredients if not all 3 in your house – right now!

4 Tips When Making This 3 Ingredient Slime
- If you don’t wear contacts then buy a travel size bottle of contact solution. The 2 oz bottle is enough to make 2 batches of slime with little waste. I had my husband pick up a bottle from the dollar store. You can also buy the baking soda and glue from the dollar store as well.
- This version of slime is mess-free but just to protect my table I laid down trash bags over my table for easier cleanup. You can also buy plastic table cloths at the dollar store. Both are great options to protect your surface area.
- Remember to wash your hands and avoid touching your mouth while playing with any kind of slime.
- Slime will become harder to clean off once it dries (it is glue, after all!) so soak mixing tools in warm soapy water while you play, and be sure to give your play space a quick wipe-down when you are done.
